It is estimated that a human heart has a lifespan of about 3 billion beats. So, it stands to reason that if we can reduce the number of times the heart beats per minute, we can increase our life span. The New Year is a good time to consider getting the old ticker in shape. Just like myself, you have probably made your promises to reduce your weight, exercise more and eat better. I have already broken mine a few times but I am trying.
I propose you consider three additional ways to make your life a little less stressful and maybe even reduce the number of times your heart beats a minute by checking off these MUST DO items:
#1 – Make sure you have proper Car Insurance. Pull out that declarations page, the one that explains what coverages you have. None of us wants to think about being injured in a car accident. You can’t control what other knuckleheads will do on the roads. But you can control how you protect yourself and your family. I have written extensively about this in past blogs and on my website. But, I promise to make it easier for you…just call me and ask for my opinion about your coverages and how you might be able to give yourself piece of mind. No charge, I promise. Here is just one link to a recent blog on this issue:

#2 – Make sure to have an annual Physical Examination. Make sure you ask your physician for all records for any treatment you get. Make sure you ask for the notes your doctor herself creates, any reports of blood work, reports of x-rays and MRI’s and CT scans. You should make sure you know what is in all of these reports. See the blog I have written about this topic: https://www.barattarussell.com/blog/protect-medical-mistake-get-medical-records/#more-495
#3 – Make sure you have an Estate Plan. It’s an easy thing to put off. Who wants to plan for sickness or death. But you know if you haven’t done it, it’s a stressor. Every time one of your friends mentions it, the anxiety level ratchets up that you have not taken care of it yet. My law partner, Ken Russell, is an expert at estate planning. Please give a call to our offices and make this year, 2016, the year you cross off “do estate plan” from the “to-do-list.” https://www.barattarussell.com/blog/family-estate-plan-wonderful-resolution-new-year/
